Day #15

We drove the Trail Ridge Road to the Alpine Visitor Center.
(12,000 feet elevation!)  We had forgotten how steep and scary it is.
Went to the wedding at which a painter was commisioned
to paint the event while we all got to watch.
Heading home tomorrow.

Day #5 thru #12

Day #5 thru #12
(We did not have computer access until today.)

Some highlights of our time in YELLOWSTONE:

- the Mammoth Hot Springs area sure has changed since our visit 25 years ago!
- Many Elk were seen.
- We saw many bison (mamas & calves).
- Baby Deer were eating along the roadside.
- A coyote came walking down the middle of the road
- A black bear was on the side of the road.
- Pronghorn were seen.
- An elk was munching away in the grassy area in the middle of our cabins.
Lots of rangers, etc.  put up signs to keep people out and tried to coax her away.
They said that she had a newborn calf nearby but she would not leave.
She trotted after one of the rangers and stomped on his hat that had fallen off.
- at Old Faithful Inn we watched the geyser erupt three times in one day.
- Saw a couple small geysers and hot springs.
- Many birds around the Inn. (One by our room window)
- Had our picture taked at Artist's Point (just as we did 25 years ago!)
- Saw an bald eagle
- Last night it snowed slightly.
- Today, on our way through the Tetons we saw a moose.
